Saxophoonist Paul Cutlan Paul Cutlan's career as a versatile multi-instrumentalist spans many different styles encompassing contemporary classical music, world music and jazz. He has worked with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra.

Notable jazz acts with whom Paul has played include Ten Part Invention, James Morrison Quintet, Judy Bailey, Steve Hunters' Nine Lives, Clarion Fracture Zone, Gest8 and Wanderlust. International acts with whom he has performed include Lou Reed for the 2007 Sydney Festival, American drummer Bobby Previte's Bitches Brew Project and New York pianist and composer Jim McNeely.

Apart from the Sydney Jazz Trio, Paul's major work is with world/jazz group MARA! with whom he has been on numerous European/ North American, and Asian tours. He has recorded two CDs with MARA! including the ARIA winning album Live in Europe. They have performed hundreds of school shows for Musica Viva, touring all Australian states and Singapore.

Paul is a member of the Australian Art Orchestra, having toured extensively, recorded three albums, and collaborated with musicians as diverse as Danish Trumpeter/ Composer Palle Mickkelborg, a quartet of Indian musicians, Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter and Paul Kelly.

Paul leads the group Coltrane Project, which has been recorded frequently by the ABC. In 2003 he composed the music for and performed in the acclaimed theatre production Birth of the Cool for the Sydney Festival. It enjoyed subsequent sell-out seasons at the Seymour Centre and Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005, and at the Ruhrfestspiele, Germany in 2006.

In 2007 he has performed at the Auckland Festival with the AAO, at the Paris quartier d'été, and co-produced the duo album Simpatico with fellow saxophonist Andrew Robson.
